Terms of Service
1. The app
Chord Chart is a desktop program you download and run on your computer. It makes guitar charts from audio files you choose. Analysis stays on that computer.
2. Software license
Chord Chart software (the desktop app, updates, and related materials) is licensed, not sold. When you pay for a subscription, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to install and run the app on the number of computers covered by your purchase, for your own use. You do not receive ownership of the software, source code, or our trademarks.
3. Subscription & devices
Licenses are sold as annual subscriptions ($29/year for 1 PC, $15/year per extra PC). Each subscription covers the number of computers you buy. The annual term starts when you complete checkout. If you renew a 1 PC license before it ends, remaining time is kept and one year is added (still one PC slot). Each Extra PC purchase adds one more registered computer and follows its own yearly term from Lemon Squeezy; it does not use the 1 PC remaining-time-plus-one-year rule. Open the app and enter the email from checkout. This computer uses one registered PC slot the first time you activate. For a laptop and a desktop, buy an Extra PC license. Do not share your checkout email. People who share one Mac or PC should each use a separate macOS or Windows user account so each person keeps a separate license activation, PC slot, and song library (each person needs their own checkout and payment). Subscriptions renew yearly until you cancel. After expiry you can still open saved charts on that PC, but analyzing new songs requires a renewed license.
4. Acceptable use
Use the app on computers you are allowed to use. You may not:
- Redistribute, resell, rent, lease, or sublicense the installer or app, or offer it as part of another product or service without our written permission.
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the app, or attempt to discover or recreate our source code, except where applicable law expressly allows this and cannot be waived.
- Bypass, disable, or interfere with license checks, device registration, or other technical protections.
- Remove or alter copyright, trademark, or other proprietary notices.
5. Your content
You keep ownership of audio files and charts you create. Detected chords are estimates only — accuracy varies by song and recording; we do not warrant that charts match any official or professional transcription. You can edit names and fingerings. You are responsible for how you use the charts. See the Disclaimer for typical test results.
6. Our intellectual property
The Chord Chart name, logo, website, app design, documentation, and software (including analysis engines and updates) are owned by Chord Chart and protected by copyright and other laws. These terms do not grant you any rights to our trademarks or branding.
7. Site content
Text, layout, and branding on getchordchart.com belong to Chord Chart. Do not copy the site to run a look-alike product.
8. Termination
We may suspend or end your license if you break these terms or if your subscription ends. When your license ends, you must stop using the app except as stated for viewing saved charts after expiry. Sections on intellectual property, restrictions, and limitations survive termination.
9. Changes
We may update the app, pricing, and these terms. The current terms are on this page.
